HCAA Teams Dominate 6-Man Football Provincials

It was double gold and a silver for HCAA 6-man football teams at the 2012 SHSAA Provincial Championships.  Three of the four teams playing in the 6-man finals were from HCAA schools.  Watrous captured their second title in 3 years in the 2A category (Wynyard taking home silver), while Ituna/Kelliher (a co-op between an HCAA school and a QVDA school) took gold in the 1A category.

Watrous hosted the 2A 6-man final.  Wynyard led 35-30 at the half, but Watrous scored the next 22 points to grab a 52-35 lead.  Wynyard closed to 52-44 lead late in the game, but on the last possession of the game were unable to score the game-tying points.

Ituna/Kelliher traveled to Hanley for the 1A 6-man final, capturing the gold with a convincing 67-24 victory.  At the time of this writing, no details were available.

Three other HCAA teams also competed in the Provicial playdowns.  Raymore lost in the 1A 6-man Provincial semifinal, while Foam Lake and Humboldt were defeated in the 9-man quarterfinals.
